Priming the pump

The peasants of Tougué try out their new NAFA pump, a simple mechanical pump to water their vegetable garden. Many farmers in the region use motorised pumps. Those are expensive, hard to take care of, and most of all, it slurps costly fuel.

The beginning of the end

Saturday December 16 a colleague of Wim tied the knot. In the morning they did it one first time in the catholic church, and a second time at the town hall. In the afternoon, they did it all over again at the mosque. Patricia is Catholic; Issouf is Muslim.

The farmers of Ninigui are the best potato producers of the region. Thanks to the barrage lake, they can grow vegetables during the dry seasons, such as the onions on the picture. Hence, the youngsters don't need to go to town or to Ivory Coast to look for work.
