Last Wednesday, we celebrated Tabaski, as Eid al Adha is called in West-Africa. Thousands of people gathered on the large Place de la Nation, in the town centre of Ouahigouya, for the morning prayer.
Innovating farmers

The NGO Diobass helps farmer groups to find themselves the solutions to their problems. The farmer union Teel taaba of Noungou produces vegetables and does research on improved methods for onion production et conservation.
Good governance in Nouna
2007/Week 50
The communal authorities of the small town of Nouna in the west of Burkina are closely working together with the civil society. Accompanied by the NGO Inades Formation, the social organisations, the labour unions and the other associations have learnt about their role in the process of decentralisation. The increased faith in the town authorities have already lead to higher tax income.
Food security
2007/Week 49
Thanks to their granary for food security, the villagers of Boulzoma are able to buy food at acceptable prices the whole year through. A strict economic management is needed to ensure the viability of this type of cereal bank: getting cereals on credit is impossible. The granary for food security is managed by a committee of three women and one man.
